A Short Guide to Reimbursement from your PPO/Out-of-Network Insurance Plan
The good news is that many clients with PPO plans can get significant or even complete reimbursement for their sessions held with Dr. Cox.
The typical process is clients pay $200 up front for the cost of the session. Dr. Cox then provides a SuperBill which is a PDF file with billing information. You then upload the Superbill to your insurance web site as a claim. After processing, the insurance company should reimburse you according to the terms of your plan.
Prior to engaging therapeutic services it is best to call customer service to know how much reimbursement can be expected. On the back of your insurance card there should be a phone number to seek this information. Typically you will want to ask about your deductible, which is the amount of money you would pay to the insurance company before any reimbursement could occur. Then ask about after the deductible is met, ask what percentage of the $200 session would be reimbursed.
Unfortunately Dr. Cox’s office can not often work with HMO insurance plans. In special circumstances a “single case agreement” can be sought with an HMO provider. These agreements might happen if you have a prior relationship with a provider or when expert care is needed.
Though it may seem complicated, often these become a relatively simple tasks. Many of Dr. Cox’s clients have success in utilizing their PPO insurances to get reimbursement. If there are complications, Dr. Cox is happy to help you better understand the nature of your insurance plan.
