I just don’t feel right. What is going on with me?
People can experience mental health struggles in a variety of ways. Sometimes people may find that they ‘just don’t feel right’ for a significant period of time and have a hard time identifying exactly why. Other times they might face a clearly identifiable problem that seems to have outstripped typical resources and coping skills.
It is important to understand the nature of the issue. Even then, it may take some time work up the courage to ask for help. I offer assistance in seeking clarity about the nature of your difficulties. Then I provide care to help you better understand your situation and alleviate discomfort.
Dr. Cox has extensive experience in the identification and treatment of various mental health concerns.
Over the years, I have developed many skills in identifying and diagnosing mental health concerns. I strive to destigmatize the process for any client so that they will feel they are treated with respect and kindness. My broad goal is to provide a comfortable environment where you can openly share what is going on in your life. I then strive to give honest reflections about the nature of your struggles and how they may be aligned with modern perspectives on and how I might be of assistance in alleviating this pain. Common mental health considerations that I feel comfortable in helping with include:
- Depression
- Panic
- Generalized Anxiety
- Obsessions and Compulsions
- Trauma
The purpose of assessment and possible diagnosis is to develop a rough conceptualization about he nature of the issues or problems. I strive to create a safe environment where you can be up front and honest. Once these issues are broadly identified, the purpose of diagnosis is to work towards appropriate treatment planning and goal setting. Basically, if we can get an idea as to the nature of the problem, we can then start to identify the solutions.
We will work collaboratively to identify the areas where you are struggling and discuss what a goal might look like for this situation. I can then speak about how psychotherapy could be of assistance in addressing these concerns. I am very familiar with a variety of empirically proven and scientifically based treatments for a variety of issues. I also give myself some leeway to be creative and tailor my approach based on your unique personality and circumstances.
